What Is Acupuncture

Acupuncture

a key component of Tradition Chinese Medicine (TCM), is explained as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi— believed to flow along the channels or meridians throughout the body. When the Chi or life-force becomes blocked or stagnated due to injury or disorder the stimulation of specific acupoints along the meridians corrects then restores the flow of the Chi returning the body to homeostasis or free flowing chi. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine sterile needles into specific points along these meridians; the needles are inserted to various depths and angles and stimulated to produce the desired effect. We are not sure how acupuncture works scientifically. However, we do know that it does have therapeutic benefits, including pain relief, but can efficiently treat many other disorders with excellent therapeutic outcomes.
